Mayor Dr. András Cser-Palkovics reported on the latest developments at a press conference on Thursday afternoon.
On Thursday afternoon, the mayor of Székesfehérvár, Dr. András Cser-Palkovics, held a press conference at the City Hall to discuss current issues affecting our club. He announced that the local government had published a call for tenders for the sale of Fehérvár F.C. Kft.
Dr. András Cser-Palkovics began by welcoming Nemanja Nikolics to the press conference, who has been assisting the owner, the local government, as a sports consultant since September. The mayor recalled that in June 2025, they took over the club with the intention of saving it and doing everything possible to create a vision for the future, but even then, they emphasized that the local government could not and did not want to finance the senior professional football team and the operation of the club from public funds, and that they could only commit to this for a transitional period, for the 2025/2026 season. During this time, they would like to find a new owner who can provide a background worthy of the prestigious Videoton in both professional and financial terms.

The tender is a two-stage process and aims to ensure that Székesfehérvár's iconic football club ends up in competent, caring, and reliable hands. The professional competence of the applicants and their commitment to the sport and the team will be assessed by requiring potential buyers to present a comprehensive concept covering all aspects of the team's life. This must include the applicant's vision for the senior professional team, their plans for youth development, their plans for the use of the Sóstói Stadium and its infrastructure, and how they plan to maintain and shape the team's identity and fan community.
The application will also assess the capital strength and financial capabilities of the applicants, and through this, it will attempt to filter the applicants according to whether they can be taken seriously or not. To this end, all applicants must deposit 50 million forints in the city's account. Furthermore, applicants must declare and commit to investing at least one billion forints in the team over a period of five years.

Representatives of the Székesfehérvár Local Government have already held several exploratory talks with sports stakeholders, potential interested parties, and advisory and consulting firms. The involvement of the latter is justified by the fact that the local government, although a very predictable and reliable partner, has to conduct business within an extremely strict and rigid legal framework, which can cause difficulties, especially for foreign investors.
The deadline for submitting applications for the first round is the 10th December 2025, at 12:00 p.m. Applications may be submitted in Hungarian or English, either by email to a dedicated email address or on paper. In the best-case scenario, the city council will be able to announce the second round of the tender in January, based on the applicants, and announce the new owner in the spring.
Dr. András Cser-Palkovics emphasized that this is an open tender and that in recent months there has been great interest from both domestic and foreign investors. He also pointed out that the operational viability of the 2025/2026 league season is guaranteed from a legal, professional, and financial point of view.
