The new head coach, who has significant experience in Fehérvár both as a player and a coach, is returning to our team's bench!
Tamás Pető returns to Vidi as the new head coach. Starting Wednesday, the coach with many ties to our club will take on the duties of head coach. He will be assisted by Balázs Bekő, part of the coaching team from our first championship winning side who will continue to serve as head coach of our U19 team.
Tamás Pető was born on the 8th June 1974, in Ajka. He began his career in Veszprém, before heading to Győr in 1995, from where he moved to Székesfehérvár a year later. In the 1996/97 season, he scored 6 goals in 37 matches for our club. He transferred from us to Újpest, where in 1998 he was a member of the purple and white team's last championship winning team. In the early 2000s, he played in Belgium, then returned home for a year and won a bronze medal as a player for Vasas. He then spent six years playing for NAC Breda in the Netherlands, where he made 83 appearances and scored 5 goals. He ended his footballing career with Lombard Pápa in 2009. He played 14 times for the Hungarian national team between 1998 and 2002.
After retiring, he worked as a scout for Vidi between 2011 and 2012, then from July 2015 to December 2018, he assisted Bernard Casoni, Ferenc Horváth, Henning Berg, and Marko Nikolic as an assistant coach. After Casoni's departure, between August 19 and the 6th October 2015, until the arrival of Ferenc Horváth, he managed Vidi as interim coach in eight matches (six NB I league matches and two Europa League qualifiers). From Székesfehérvár, he moved to Paks, where he assisted head coach Aurél Csertői as a scout, then at the start of the 2018/2019 season, he took over the management of the Veszprém football team, which was then still playing in the county league first division. Tamás Pető worked in the city of kings for a total of six years, during which time he helped win two league titles and three bronze medals with the club and led Veszprém to the threshold of NB II. They finished the 2023/2024 season in third place in the NB III North-West group.
In June 2024, he became the head coach of Vidi, and in the 2024/2025 league season, he managed our team in 27 NB I matches until April 2025, with a record of 8 wins, 6 draws, and 13 losses.
In view of the ongoing tender for the sale of our club, we have signed agreements with sporting director Nemanja Nikolics and head coach Tamás Pető until the end of the 2025/2026 season.
