Benedek Murka continues his career with Vidi!

The 27-year-old player spent several seasons in the top division with Vasas, most recently playing for Csákvár in NB II.

Benedek Murka was born on 10th September 1997 in Budapest. He started playing youth football with Budakeszi, before moving to Újpest at the age of 13, where he played for the Budapest club in his age group for the next three years. Benedek comes from a family of footballers, and his role model is his grandfather's brother, András Tóth, who won seven consecutive league titles with Újpest in the 1970s and played seventeen times for the Hungarian national team, scoring a goal at the 1978 World Cup. His brother and father also played football.

Murka's talent is best demonstrated by the fact that in the spring of 2014, at the age of only 16, he became a key player in the U18 national team preparing for the 2015 European Championship qualifiers. In the summer of 2014, he was approached by Italian club Catania. He impressed the Italian club during a trial and was accepted into the Catania academy. Although he spent several months with the Italian team, he was not signed because Catania did not want to pay his training costs.

He then returned home and signed for Vasas at the beginning of 2015, where he celebrated the NB II championship title with the Angyalföld team in his first (half) season. At the start of the following season, he made his NB I debut as a substitute against FTC, but hoping for more playing time, he spent most of the season on loan at NB II side Siófok. He returned to Vasas in the 2016/2017 season, where he was now considered a key player, appearing in 20 league matches and scoring twice. It is painful for us that he scored one of his goals against us: on 8 April 2017, he came on as a substitute in the 84th minute of a Vidi - Vasas match with the score at 1-1, and in the 93rd minute he scored the winning goal for the capital side. The following season, Vasas finished last in the OTP Bank League, but he spent another full season with them in NB II, before moving to Csákvár, then Ajka and finally back to Csákvár. He spent the last three seasons with the Fejér County team. Murka has also played for the U18, U19, U20 and U21 national teams.

The experienced footballer joined our club as a free agent.
